Human Brains: It Begins with an Idea | Courtesy Fondazione Prada Venezia
The project entitled Human Brains stems from an in-depth research process undertaken by the Fondazione Prada since 2018 in the field of neuroscience and guided by a strong desire to understand the human brain, the complexity of its functions and its centrality in the history of man. The It Begins with an Idea exhibition, curated by Udo Kittelmann in collaboration with Taryn Simon, set up on the three floors of Ca' Corner della Regina, is the result of a long investigation conducted with the Prada Foundation and the scientific committee, which explores a variety of disciplines: from neurobiology to philosophy, from psychology to neurochemistry, from linguistics to artificial intelligence to robotics. As a whole, the exhibition traces the history of the development of neuroscientific knowledge characterized by rigor, innovation and discoveries, but also by errors and uncertainties. The project attempts to outline through art the perishing of consciousness, of the questions still unresolved by scientific research, of the evidences and unknowns in our process of understanding the human brain.
