After significant projects at the Pompidou Center in Paris and at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the first solo exhibition in Italy by the Romanian artist Adrian Ghenie (1977), entitled The Battle between Carnival and Feast, arrives at the Cini Foundation in Venice. A cycle of nine canvases of great impact, some unpublished and inspired by Venetian history, also linked to the most controversial and gloomy themes of current events and all linked by the theme of water. In his work Adrian Ghenie, one of the most renowned of his generation, brings together personal memories and collective traumas, past and present. His paintings are not measured exclusively with the history of painting, but are also confronted with the act of "painting the plot of history" and with the personalities who, with their actions, have defined the course.
