YUN HYONG-KEUN. A Retrospective

YUN HYONG-KEUN. A Retrospective

In conjunction with the 58th edition of the Venice Biennale, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Korea (MMCA) and the Civic Museums of Venice (MUVE) present the great exhibition dedicated to the Korean artist Yun Hyong-keun (1928 - 2007), a prominent figure of Dansaekhwa, the monochromatic pictorial movement that spread in Korea between the Sixties and Seventies. The exhibition tells the adventurous life of Yun through 55 masterpieces that embrace the entire span of his career, made even more vivid by a faithful reproduction of Yun's atelier, with works that are truly present in the original studio signed by other artists, such as Kim Whanki, Jeon Roe-jin and Choi Jongtae. Beyond the fundamental role of Yun in the development of Dansaekhwa, the exhibition intends to examine its production autonomously, with a new point of view.
